Known throughout Latin America as El Libertador, Venezuelan revolutionary Simon Bolivar was one of the most important leaders in the wars of independance from Spain. Recently revived by the Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez for this own political program - which he called 'The Bolivarian Revolution' - these galvanising words remain as relevant for the current political and social struggles as they were in Bolivar's own day.
