This manual seeks to answer questions about the rights of women to attend congregrational prayers, and what rights (if any) someone has to forbid them. The evident injustices in Muslim societies of arrangements that claim to rest on the authority or religion are not only a 'modern' concern. Same questions have been asked within the religion and on its behalf. For instance the great Andalusian scholar Ali ibn Hazm (994 - 1064) comprehensively talks about this in his Muhalla.
Scholar Muhammad Akram Nadwi attempts to synthesise his arguements and presents them in a concise and eloquent manner, in which the reader can clearly see original Islam's views on women in religious spaces.
