The Journal of the History of Sufism (JHS) is an annual publication which publishes scholarly articles relating to the history of Islamic mysticism and of the Sufi brotherhoods all over the Muslim world. Due to its interdisciplinary nature, articles dealing not only with history, but also with literature, philology, political science, economics, anthropology, sociology, folklore, theology, philosophy, fine arts, architecture, and ethnomusicology are encouraged.
It also includes a translation section which supplies the translation in English or French of valuable papers published in Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, Persian, Russian, etc. There is also a review section covering the most important publications - books and articles - on all subjects connected with Islamic mysticism and Sufism.
